If you are related with the internet industry or a regular user of the internet then you must be aware about the word email.Email is the service on the internet which enables you to send messages to a person on his or her email address.For this you also should have an email address.You can make an email address for your self free of cost.If you receive an email from someone then you get you email from a server.This server is none other than the POP3 server.POP ( Post Office Protocol ) is used to describe how email clients interact with mail servers.POP is the mail server which is used for the incoming mails or in other words POP is the server which gives you a service similar to the letter post service.Only the difference is,this particular service is for your email and your incoming mails are posted on your email address.So when the users connect to their ISP POP servers,the servers get connected to the their email software and then all the messages are downloaded.But make sure that POP servers only receive messages,they do not send them.
The server which is used to send the mail messages is called the SMTP server.SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.A Protocol stands for sending mail messages between servers.When an email is sent by a client,it is first sent to a SMTP server.SMTP server then receives the email across the internet.After the email has been received it is then sent to the intended recipients through different routes so that he can receive the email with the help of the POP server as mentioned above.When an email is sent to a recipient,it also requires few other servers apart from the SMTP server so that it is sent to the desired email address.
