Mirroring is the technique in which the data is written in two copies,this means that all the Data in the system is written on two drives instead of one.This is done because,if one of the drives mirrored fails or does not respond due to some mechanical or other reasons than it can switch to the other drive so that it can work and provide the user with uninterreupted accessibility.This technique is also called fault tolerence.This is done so that there is no loss in user accessibility.The main purpose behind using this techinique is to provide the user with 100% data redundancy so that the Data is fully protected and is available all the time as if one of the drive fails then the other can help to provide the data.For this process,the Mirroring drives constantly require a number of drives as well as high technical skills.So the main reason for using the technique Mirroring is nothing but to provide 100% accessibility so that the Data is available all the time for the user and this is possible with Mirroring as if one of the drives fail then the other drive can be used to accesss the Data as the data is also available on it.However while buying RAID make sure that you buy twice the capacity if the data is very important and requires extremely high performance accessibility.
